Shiripuno community

Brief presentation of the Shiripuno community and the Community Tourism Center.

A century-old community

The first Shiripuno community, whose full name is Shiripuno de Wayusa Yawkul, is located approximately ten kilometers south of San Viciente de Puerto Rico; it is several hundred years old.

The Rivadeneyra and Grefa families are at the heart of the Shiripuno community.

In the 1950s, several members of the family migrated west to be closer to Puerto Musahualli; they then founded a new Shiripuno community.

The CTC, a privileged partner

In 2005, under the leadership of Teo and Amélie Lemand, the Shiripuno Community Tourism Center (CTC) was created, and a women's association, Amukishmi, was created to manage it. This model of solidarity tourism ensures that profits return directly to the community, thus supporting local development and the preservation of ancestral traditions.

Through the CTC, you can attend traditional dances, participate in shamanic ceremonies around the sacred stone, and discover local legends. Crafts made from natural fibers and local seeds are also featured, offering you unique and ethical souvenirs.
